This evergreen Shrub is native to Baja California and is known to be one of the more drought tolerant varieties of black sage. In spring black sage bears tightly packed whorls of white or light blue flowers. Has a very strong sweet musky aroma reminiscent of a tootsie roll. 


Growth Form/Defining Characteristics: 1-3’ high, 3-5’ wide. trailing.

Light: Full Sun

Water: Very Drought tolerant, Once Established 

Soil: can tolerate low quality sandy clays but prefers well drained loam

Hardiness: Sunset zones 9,14-17

Type: Perennial, slightly summer deciduous in extreme drought
