Leaves emit a strong fragrance similar to curry powder when bruised or pinched. Not generally used in curry, but used in certain Mediterranean dishes for flavoring similar to rosemary, usually meat dishes or salads.

The flowers and leaves of this plant have been traditionally used as a medicinal plant and is currently the subject of active research into its pharmacological properties. It has a rich history as treatment of health disorders such as allergies, colds, cough, skin, liver and gallbladder disorders, inflammation, infections and sleeplessness.

Can be used in drought tolerant or xeriscape gardens.

Growth Form/Defining Characteristics: Bright yellow flower clusters .

Light: Full Sun 

Water: Moderate water until established. Very drought tolerant once established. 

Soil: Tolerant to dry rocky soil, but will flourish in well drained loam and standard potting soil 

Hardiness: Sunset zones 13-24, USDA Zones 7-10. Tolerant to light frost and extreme heat.
